Rather Repetitive

I was digging it for a while, but kept expecting more variations & added rhythms to come in. A few did, but not enough, in my opinion, to carry the song for four & a half minutes. Which hurts the score a bit, but you do have some interesting sounds here.

...

You did well with the time signature changes, which I've heard other artists totally fail at in the past. The use of orchestral sounds feels natural, & not forced (again, a problem I hear in a fair few electronic songs). I give it - 7/10.

jiggitysmith responds:

Thanks :D Yeah I don't do the time changes so much so but I do know how to throw a good orchestral / electronic blend together. Again thanks for the critique!

A start

You've got a pretty good beginning here, but it clearly isn't finished. When it ended. it felt like something new would come in to make the song "bigger".

I find, when I'm really stuck at a song that isn't too far along, the best thing to do is to that the rhythm/melodies that speak most to me & make them into something entirely new.

Tzunami responds:

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm working on, I'm deconstructing it and rebuilding it to find that right sound, but for now I've got nothing. Thanks for reviewing.

Very Atmospheric

This song creates a strong visual image. My main complaint is that some of the choir & strings sounds a bit too "Synthy".

popraz responds:

Thank you ! I've done better with the choir and strings, though synths can never replace the real thing..

...

You've got a strong sense of "urban chaos" going on in this track, which makes me imagine a scene from one of those "rise of the undead" type films. Specifically one from the 80's.

Is it just me, or is one of those main percussive bits slightly off tempo from the rest? I sort of like it like that...

All beatboxing?

A few parts are very impressive if they did indeed come out of your mouth unaltered.

roboshopquartet responds:

Thanks man!

Yay mouth samples

I applaud your creative sample use. However, the song itself does seem to follow standard sort of techno structure. I can't tell if I think this is clever or gimmicky.

The "bass" sound is rather annoying.

roboshopquartet responds:

Thanks for the review, but I would just like the say that I do not sample anything. I am a beatboxer, and all of this is non-layered beatboxing strait from my mouth.

Although I do think that if I did sample mouth sounds, that would actually be something extremely creative! Haha, I never thought of that before.

Silly

Hehe. 'Tis goofy.

What he said

I agree with devoq81, pretty much (except for the under two minutes bit. I've heard all sorts of good songs that are under two minutes). This feels like you threw sounds at a sound wall & recorded what stuck.

Cdragon94 responds:

It's suppose to be short and simple... x2

May I add: it was thrown together quickly for a friend while sounding at least decent, giving it below a 3 and 5 you're just being a god-damn jackass.

Speed?!?

Why are other reviewers suggesting you speed it up? Are they on crack? Reviewer crack? The tempo is just fine where it's at. Song is kind of repetitive, though.
